The “Bisheng Printing Cooperation Dialogue · Riyadh” event, themed “New Opportunities, New Cooperation, New Future,” was held on October 2 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
Representatives and experts from the printing and publishing industries of China and Arab countries engaged in in-depth discussions on industrial development, capacity cooperation, and cultural exchange.
Cai Shugui, Deputy Director-General of the Printing and Distribution Bureau of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, noted that printing, as a bridge of cultural exchange, has played a crucial role in promoting mutual learning among civilizations.
He highlighted that the Chinese invention of printing technology was introduced to the Arab world via the Silk Road, supporting the preservation of Arab academic works and facilitating the eastward spread of Arabic numerals, astronomy, calendars, and medicine — a vivid example of two-way cultural exchange between China and Arab civilizations.
Dr. Saleh Al-Sagri, former Cultural Counsellor of the Saudi Embassy in China, stated that cooperation between Arab and Chinese printing and publishing industries has become increasingly close.
He said the dialogue aligns with both sides’ shared vision for mutually beneficial development and responds to the trend of building a community with a shared future for China and Arab nations.
According to Al-Sagri, this event will serve as a new platform for enhancing cultural and economic cooperation, further aligning the Belt and Road Initiative with Saudi Vision 2030, establishing closer cooperation mechanisms, fostering innovation in printing technologies, and deepening people-to-people exchanges.
During the experience-sharing session, representatives from Egypt, the UAE, Lebanon, and other Arab countries delivered keynote speeches, discussing the current state, development history, and market prospects of the Arab printing and publishing sector, while offering insights for future cooperation.
Chinese speakers shared their latest achievements and experiences in green development, internationalization, children’s book production, talent cultivation, and technological innovation.
At the event, Chinese enterprises showcased a range of high-quality printed works featuring eco-friendly concepts, refined craftsmanship, and original design — earning wide acclaim from attendees.
The event was hosted by the Printing and Distribution Bureau of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, organized by China International Communication Press Group, and co-organized by the Printing Technology Association of China.
