In June 2025, Manroland Sheetfed GmbH and Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG announced a new business partnership, marking Heidelberg’s return to the large-format offset press market. This move is built on the proven foundation of the ROLAND 900 Evolution HiPrint platform.
On June 2, during Heidelberg’s 175th anniversary celebration, the company introduced the new Cartonmaster CX 145, which is based on Manroland’s advanced ROLAND 900 Evolution HiPrint press. The press combines Heidelberg’s digital integration with Manroland’s engineering expertise, tailored to meet the high-performance demands of the folding carton industry.
Mr. Rafael Penuela, CEO of Manroland Sheetfed, commented: “The ROLAND 900 Evolution HiPrint is a well-established machine representing top productivity and precision. This partnership reflects our technological strength and our ability to collaborate in ways that benefit end users. It is an important step forward for the market and a clear recognition of our platform.”
Printing Week cited Heidelberg CEO Jürgen Otto, who explained that this alliance is part of a smarter and more agile business model: “This is a smart combination with partners. Not everything is made by us, but everything is managed by us.” The agreement shows Heidelberg’s clear and forward-looking commitment to re-enter the large-format segment, now supported by Manroland Sheetfed’s press platform. The first customer deliveries of the Cartonmaster CX 145 are expected in 2026.
