China’s Printing Industry Total Output Value Surpasses 1.5 Trillion RMB

On June 10, the 5th China Printing Industry Innovation and Development Conference was held in Shenyang, Liaoning. The event revealed that China’s printing industry’s total output value has exceeded 1.5 trillion RMB, making it the world leader. The conference highlighted how digital and intelligent transformation is reshaping the industry, combining technology with tradition and innovation.

Su Baoli from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology emphasized that the printing industry’s intelligent transformation should focus on smart factory development and system innovation. Smart manufacturing is key to solving industry challenges, considering its complex processes and high customization needs.

Guo Xinqiang from the National Market Supervision Administration stressed the importance of high quality in modern industries, calling for better quality innovation in digital printing and smart manufacturing.

Yu Haibin from the Chinese Academy of Sciences noted that artificial intelligence is driving the shift from digitalization to full intelligence in the industry.

With over 2,600 smart printing workshops in China and investments over 115 billion RMB, the printing industry is exploring how to best leverage digital technology.

Cai Shugui from the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China called for improved printing quality standards to support the industry’s digital and intelligent development. Yuan Yaping from the National Publishing Products Quality Supervision and Testing Center highlighted the challenges as digital printing and other media formats converge.

With the release of China’s "Printing Industry Digitalization Action Plan (2025-2027)," the printing industry is embracing the future of intelligent manufacturing.
